Buy a Historic Home for $1
I was a Million Dollar Agent for Coldwell Banker.
My advice to home buyers:
Skip the mortgage, pay cash for an older home
With no mortgage, you can afford lots of upgrades!
Don't let repairs scare you off! You can do most of
them yourself or hire local laid off skilled workers to
do a side job for you. We have had our $500. historic
home for a year now, all the repairs, plumbing, elec,
roof, insulation, were done by us on a bare bones budget.
Now we have a large home, no rent or mortgage payments for the rest of our lives!
Our home appraised at $339,000. Not bad for a little elbow grease.

Briggs House
The ca. 1906 Briggs House is believed to have been built for the family of Fabius Briggs, Jr. The house has had a colorful history and was mostly recently used for artist studios. It is currently unoccupied and suffering from deferred maintenance and water damage. However, many of the house's beautiful details survive, including paneled wainscotting, elegant central stair, 8 unique tiled mantles, original wood windows and floors.
The house, currently located at the corner of Hillsborough Street and Ashe Ave., must be moved to a new site to save it from demolition. The house will be moved separately from the commercial building to which it is attached. Possible relocation sites have been identified near the existing site. Additional details coming soon.
Learn more about the history of the house and see photos at http://goodnightraleigh.com/2009/10

President Barack Obama -Update on Libya
Good morning,
I'm writing today with an update on the situationin Libya, including the actions we've taken with allies and partners to protect the Libyan people from the brutality of Moammar Qaddafi. For further details, please take a moment to watch this morning's Weekly Address:
Sending our brave men and women in uniform into harm's way is not a decision I make lightly. But when someone like Qaddafi threatens a bloodbath that could destabilize an entire region, it is in our national interest to act. In fact, it’s our responsibility.
Our mission in Libya is clear and focused -- and we are succeeding.
Along with our allies and partners, we are enforcing the mandate of the United Nations Security Council. Working with other countries, we have put in place a no-fly zone and other measures that will help prevent further violence and brutality. Qaddafi's air defenses have been taken out, and his forces are no longer advancing across Libya.
As a consequence of our quick action, the lives of countless innocent civilians have been saved, and a humanitarian catastrophe has been avoided.
The role of American forces in this mission is limited. After providing unique capabilities at the beginning, we are now handing over control of the no-fly zone to our NATO allies and partners, including Arab partners like Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
The United States has also joined with the international community to deliver urgent humanitarian assistance. We're offering support to the Libyan opposition and have frozen tens of billions of dollars of Qaddafi's assets.
Our message to Qaddafi is clear: attacks against innocent civilians must end, his forces must be pulled back, humanitarian aid must reach Libyans in need, and those responsible for the violence in Libya must be held accountable.
The progress we've made over the past seven days demonstrates how the international community should work, with many nations, not just the United States, bearing the responsibility and cost of upholding international law.
Every American can be proud of the service of our men and women in uniform who have once again stood up for our interests and ideals. And as we move forward, I will continue to keep each of you fully informed on our progress.
Sincerely,
Barack Obama
President of the United States
P.S. On Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. EDT, I will deliver an address at the National Defense University in Washington, DC on the situation in Libya. You can watch the speech live at WhiteHouse.gov/live

Screen Goddess Elizabeth Taylor Dies at 79 - Photos
Elizabeth Taylor, the actress who dazzled generations of moviegoers with her stunning beauty and whose name was synonymous with Hollywood glamour, died Wednesday in Los Angeles. She was 79.
A spokeswoman at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center said Ms. Taylor died at 1:28 a.m. Pacific time. The cause was congestive heart failure, her publicist, Sally Morrison, told The Associated Press. Ms. Taylor, who had had a series of medical setbacks over the years, was treated for heart problems at Cedars-Sinai last month.
In a world of flickering images, Elizabeth Taylor was a constant star. First appearing on screen at age 9, she grew up there, never passing through an awkward age. It was one quick leap from “National Velvet” to “A Place in the Sun” and from there to “Cleopatra,” as she was indelibly transformed from a vulnerable child actress into a voluptuous film queen.
Cane Corso's Babysitting Their Kids
This rare ancient dog breed is becoming popular with families
for some very obvious reasons. Each Cane Corso needs
a family to bond with. They guard, love and protect their kids
24/7. Though these dogs can learn many chores, working and hunting,
their value as a companion for your babies is priceless.
They will babysit, and even help fussy sleepers get to sleep
by cuddling with them all night.
They use their front legs as arms and gently hug and pat you.
I love my beautiful Italian Mastiff, Nakita.
