Let's Talk About The End of Days

There has been a great deal of talk lately about Doomsday, Armageddon,
yeppers the end of the world as we know it is on everyone's mind.

With recent climate change and down right deadly weather, it's easy
to see why these conversations are coming up.

Let's talk facts. The fact is each and every day is the last for someone.
We are all going to die. It's a natural part of life.

I challenge you to think more about living, more about raising the quality
of your life and of the lives of those around you.

If you died right now, what would you regret?
Did you forget to tell someone you loved them?
Pick up the phone and tell them now!

None of us are guaranteed another minute.
We are faced with numerous dangers every second of every day.
The miracle is that we live.
Take your miracle of life, the precious gift that you have been given
and use it to bring love, light and hope to those around you.

No one knows what the future brings.
No one can tell us when "The End of Days" will come.
If anyone claims they can , remain skeptical and remember to
cherish each and every moment of your life.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Secrets of North Dakota - ten things you didn't know

The tiny population of North Dakota has a well kept secret! This is a wonderful place to live!

1. Fishing in the Missouri River - known for Walleye but you never know what you'll catch!

This Sturgeon was caught in the Missouri River, North of Bismarck, North Dakota. It weighed out at over 1,000 lbs and measured out at 11’1″.

It was 56″ around the girth and took over 6 and a half hours, for the
4 guys taking turns at the reeling it in.

Any Sturgeon OVER about five feet has to be released unharmed and cannot be
removed from the water.

They are brood / breeding stock and probably older than most of us.

The Two Bodied Fish was also caught there! Pretty good deal, ya get

double the meat! LOL

2. Sunflowers grow everywhere!

2. Missouri River Natural Area -This 157 acre preserve is pristine floodplain woodlands.
The deciduous forest provides habitat to whitetail deer, fox, raccoon, squirrels, wild turkey, Bald Eagles, Canada geese, owls, wood peckers and a variety of song birds.
Popular for walkers, fisherman and mountain bikers there are almost 5 miles of single track trail. Outdoor enthusiasts, bird watchers and photographers come to enjoy the solitude, abundant wildlife and scenery.

3. Abundant Jobs! - best economy in the nation

"We've had an absolutely stellar few years," says University of North Dakota economist David Flynn. "In all honesty, when you look ahead, we should continue to do well for quite a while."

North Dakota is enjoying an oil boom in the western part of the state, drawing workers from across the country.

The oil windfall has created a $1 billion state budget surplus.

4. large affordable homesBill Halbert on why he moved to North Dakota:
House prices: In the Western United States, the average house price is $ 240,000. I had read what an incredible deal North Dakota real estate is on the internet. We checked in Fargo and Kindred and found that prices were still a little high. We came to Enderlin and thought it was still within a reasonable distance to Fargo. I saw a nice little house for sale and thought, if that place is $ 60,000 I am buying it. I call the realtor and she says it is $ 15,000! I suddenly have all these thoughts of freedom going through my head. When you have a family to feed, saving $ 2000 on a mortgage is meaningful. I have a friend who has a very similar house in Oakland CA, identical square footage, was built in the same era. His house is worth $ 800,000.

5. Lowest crime in the US

6. Almost all kids graduate here - highest rate in the US

7. It's easy to garden in our rich soil.
8. History - The Sheyenne River valley is rich with history. The first inhabitants of the valley were Asiatic Mound Builders who roamed the area 5,000 to 8,000 years ago. Most of the mounds they built can still be seen today in the valley. These people left inscriptions in a large boulder in the valley know as Writing Rock.

9. Canoeing on the Sheyenne River during the summer

10. The Winter: For a few months of the year the landscape is transformed into a beautiful Winter Wonderland. Dress warm and enjoy!

Medicinal Uses of Lavender

Lavender has been used for centuries as an herbal remedy, and does indeed appear to have antiseptic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-convulsive, and last but certainly not least - anti-depressant properties. The fresh or dried flowers contain the medicinal properties of Lavender. For internal use the essential oil is often placed on sugar cubes - 1-3 drops per cube. Unfortunately unless you have a home still, and knowledge of the distillation process for essential oils, you have to purchase the oil. This purchased oil is capable of making you very nauseous, and most vendors advise against taking it internally except in very small doses. However, the flowers make a relaxing and refreshing tea with the same basic medicinal properties, and using Lavender in this way is advisable in most cases.

Internally, Lavender is believed to be of benefit for a multitude of problems, including stress, anxiety, exhaustion, irritability, headaches, migraines, insomnia, depression, colds, digestion, flatulence, upset stomach, liver and gallbladder problems, nervousness, loss of appetite, and as a breath freshener and mouthwash. Inhaling the essential oil in some cases has been reported to work as well as narcotics for inducing relaxation and sleep, easing symptoms of depression, and reducing headache pain. For inhalation purposes, boil 2 cups of water, add 2 drops of essential oil, and inhale the steam.

Externally, Lavender oil is one of the safest essential oils and can be used full-strength on the skin. It works wonderfully and can be applied directly for cuts, scrapes, wounds, burns, bee, wasp, and insect stings, rashes, muscle aches, rheumatism, arthritis, cold sores, canker sores, blisters, bruises, athlete's foot, and rubbed directly into the temples in case of headache or migraine.

Miscellaneous uses of Lavender include using unsweetened tea as a hair rinse to help reduce hair loss and dandruff, using the dried flowers in sleep and dream pillows, in potpourris, sachets and tucked in drawers to freshen clothing and repel moths. A few drops of oil dropped into warm bath water is a refreshing and relaxing treat. The stems with the leaves stripped can be burned like an incense stick, and can also be used in crafts such as basket weaving, and making Lavender wands.

Best Use of Twitpic for Recipes - sharemykitchen

How
How to make Guacamole - http://bit.ly/i3wkRK

For me, Twitter is like an Easter Egg Hunt.
Each new follower is some kind of Treasure.
Today I felt like I found the Golden Egg.
I noticed a new Twitter Follower had some recipes and decided
to follow back and RT recipes.
Some of the recipes had links to photos at Twitpic.
I clicked and viewed a beautiful photo and also saw
a button that allows you to put the photo on your blog.
See the photo above along with a link to the recipe.

I clicked on sharemykitchen's twitpic profile and saw
a beautiful example of how to use twitpic when blogging recipes.
